GénàToile - User's guide

Step 2: loading the GEDCOM file

this tab allow you to load the selected gedcom file when you click on the "Load the gedcom" button.

NOTE FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T READ DOCUMENTATIONS: YOU MUST CLICK ON THAT BUTTON.
This button is active only if a valid gedcom file was selected during the previous step, or if GénàToile has already been run : it proposes you to load the last gedcom file used.

The number of individuals and the number of families is displayed, for information.

Click on the button, you can see a progress bar, and a beep warns you when load is complete.

If you cannot see correctly the accented letters on the html generated pages :
You can force the character coding of your gedcom file : GénàToile manages 3 different codings
- ASCII, generally used by Windows
- ANSEL, often default choice in genealogy programs
- DOS, if your genealogy program runs under DOS

GénàToile gets the coding information in the gedcom file itself. Generally, you don't have to change this parameter. However, some files don't show correctly the character coding. In this case, try an other option.

If your html generated pages have notes and sources where some spaces are missing :
it must be a gedcom file that doesn't respect the rule about CONC lines. Strike "Space before CONC", load again your file, generate the pages, and compare the results.
